I’ve been in the interior designing business for almost 8 to 10 years and I’ve notice the great changer in the Trend or style in Singapore. If you ask me to pick for the later interior design Trend in Singapore, i must say is modern contemporary style. Anybody here knows what is modern contemporary style?
I will try to explain it base on my own interpretation
Basically to my understanding Modern and Contemporary are the same meaning
Modern means “up to date” or “new“.
Contemporary means modern
Modern contemporary design emphasis on sleek, clean lines and simplicity and neutrals colour is the most practice for contemporary design.
Over here in Singapore, most home owners get a bit of mix up with all the style and do not follow through the style they propose but ending up having too many ideas in the house.
I, personally thinks that the reason is that they likes to pick up ideas from the magazines and when they find something nice, they would likes to have it in their house. Yes, I never say picking ideas from the magazine is no good but you need to focus on what kind of style you wanted for the house.
As result of too many pick and plug mix ideas and the whole style don’t flow well.
The ideas of contemporary is to keep it simple
