Here is a very interesting piece of kitchen table design by Olga Kalugin. It design is base on an portable box-shaped musical instrument call accordion.
Here is a picture of the instrument
From the picture above at least you know why the folding table was name ‘accordion. The folding mechanism is very similar with the accordion instrument.
In the first place i can’t find the source of this Flexible Kitchen Table design by Olga Kalugin . From Google engine the result was many blogs got post about this furniture and most of the descriptions were copy from one and another. .What i found about the Flexible kitchen table was it winner in International Design Award 2009 and never mention about what kind of international Design award. Nevertheless, let not get discourage why not discuss about the Pro and Con about this design.
In the first place. I’m impress with the design and it a superb piece of furniture design. But as an interior designer many questions cross my mind and it need a answer.
- Ask yourself do you need a piece of table when you got kitchen cabinet?
- Are you kitchen big enough to accommodate the kitchen table and when not in use where are you going to store it.
- After all the cutting and chopping is it easy to clear it and maintain.
